Refining Your Craft, Defining Your Voice

Faded Sandpaper

At The Writer's Hood, we believe every writer deserves a community to belong to — whether they are poets, playwrights, novelists, songwriters, screenwriters, or simply beginning their creative journey. Too often, writers are left isolated, facing gatekeeping, elitism, or the belief that only certain voices “count.” We know the opposite is true: storytelling thrives when writers of all mediums, backgrounds, and levels of experience come together to share craft, exchange feedback, and grow side by side.

WHO WE SERVE: The Writer's Hood is a creative home for storytellers of every background, medium, and stage of their career. Founded by award-winning playwright and educator Christin Eve Cato, it’s a space built on mentorship over gatekeeping, community over credentials, and craft over competition. Here, writers come together to learn, grow, and belong.

Started by Christin Eve Cato, The Writers Hood was born from both personal experience and professional practice. Christin has built a career by centering underrepresented voices and creating spaces for stories that might otherwise be erased or overlooked. She started this community so that writers can have affordable access to educational resources that focus on craft, nurture the artist beneath the writer, and that offer mentorship from an outstanding faculty of professional writers and educators in the industry.
