Writing Against Erasure

The Archive of Us

What happens to a people when their stories stop being told? In this two-day intensive, playwright Nelson Diaz-Marcano invites writers to explore playwriting as an act of cultural preservation and resistance. Together, we will examine how history is erase not only through omission, but through simplification, stereotype, and silence; and how writing can push back against it. Participants will move beyond writing about culture and into writing from it, using language, rhythm, memory, and tradition as structural tools for storytelling. Through guided exercises, discussion, and generative writing, students will begin developing original work that reflects the complexity, contradictions, and beauty of their communities. This workshop is for writers who want to create work that does more than tell a story; it builds an archive. April 8th | 6pm-8pm ET DAY ONE: Workshop Day April 9th | 6pm-8pm ET DAY TWO: Readings/Presentation Cost: $50 per person (total)
